As a mom of four—including 4-year-old twins, one of whom is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum—I’ve tried a lot of sensory toys over the years. My sensory-seeking kiddo loves movement, textures, sounds, and anything that keeps his hands and mind busy. After experimenting with so many options, these are the toys that truly stood out for him.
What makes this list even more special is that my neurotypical children enjoy these toys just as much. They’re engaging, durable, and fun for all kids—not just those with sensory needs. Everything on this list has been tested in real life, in the chaos of a busy household, and has kept all four of my kids entertained, regulated, and happy.
These toys encourage exploration, support sensory needs, and offer calming or stimulating input depending on the moment. Most importantly, they’re items my children actually reach for on their own—again and again.

These toys once we hit about five months really made a difference up until around 10 months . Having a wide variety of toys in your arsenal is wonderful because what one won’t do another will it exposes your baby to color textures and sensory exposure and a lot of versatility. I choose to introduce each one after a few weeks your gut should guide you when you think it’s time for another new toy it’s best to have them on hand and change them out as growth occurs. My pediatrician says my LO is advanced and I do believe it is due to the way I introduced these different tools - side note - baby was entertained had fun and wasn’t in pain . A win win for mama and baby!

As much as we are girl's girls here and love the occasional sparkle & frill, the overall theme of our closet is practical comfort. We're talking cute and easy to wear and affordable because we've all seen a baby blowout and a toddler kid eat an ice cream cone. My favorite places to shop for my kiddos is Gap & Target but I have included all of my other brands, styles and looks.
