Before these, I had three different streaming devices plugged in because no single one covered Peacock, Disney+, AND my local channels. That era is mercifully over.

Sticks worked fine until I started downloading apps and running out of storage. Boxes give you the horsepower when you've got 30+ apps and a 4K TV that deserves better.

I literally had a basket on my coffee table with four remotes in it. My mom visited and couldn't turn the TV on. That was the wake-up call.

My TV had three HDMI ports and I needed five. Instead of unplugging cables behind the TV like a contortionist, I grabbed a switch.

Nothing killed the mood faster than audio being half a second behind the picture. Lip sync issues made every movie feel like a badly dubbed foreign film.

My router sat in the office and my TV was two rooms away. Every Friday movie night meant at least one buffering pause during the climax. Infuriating.

Competitive gaming plus 4K streaming in the same household meant someone was always lagging. Hardwiring the streaming box ended the nightly bandwidth wars.

A power flicker killed my first Roku and I learned the hard way that a $20 surge protector is cheaper than replacing a $50 streaming device.

I wall-mounted my TV and then realized all the cables hanging down looked terrible. Guests kept asking why I didn't finish the setup.

Mounting the TV freed up the entire surface of my old TV stand, which gave me space to actually organize devices instead of stacking them like a tech Jenga tower.

Getting up to flip the power strip switch behind the couch every night felt ridiculous. Now I say ‘Alexa, movie time’ and everything turns on at once.

Watching a bright screen in a pitch-dark room gave me headaches by the third episode. Bias lighting behind the TV fixed it and honestly looks incredible too.
