Half the cameras I looked at screamed ‘I’m spying on you' from across the room. These blend in so well my sitter hasn't mentioned a single one, and the video quality is sharp enough to see if my kid is eating crayons again.

Kids don't stay in one spot. My son went from the play mat to behind the couch in the time it took me to unmute on a call. These cameras follow the action so I don't have to buy four separate ones.

Before my son outgrew his crib, I used these as standard baby monitors. Now they sit in the playroom and I still check them constantly — old habits from the newborn days never really die.

Pulling up the camera on my phone got old fast, especially when I needed my phone for actual work. Putting a smart display on my desk changed everything — one glance and I know what's happening without unlocking anything.

My playroom is in the back corner of the house where wifi goes to die. The camera kept freezing mid-feed until I fixed the signal. These are what finally made the live stream actually live.

Sometimes I just need to say ‘hey buddy, please don’t stand on that' without leaving my desk. Two-way audio saved me from sprinting downstairs at least four times last week alone.

Sitting a camera on a shelf works until your toddler knocks it over for the third time. Mounting them high and out of reach was the fix I should have started with instead of buying a new camera thinking the old one broke.

Felt weird about recording at first, so I set up schedules and automations that only run the cameras when the sitter is here. Keeps things ethical, keeps footage organized, and means I'm not accidentally recording myself tripping over Legos at midnig...
