Started with a random cardboard box and it fell apart mid-flour-explosion. Learned the hard way you need something sturdy that also looks good sitting on the counter waiting for Saturday.

Ran out of regular flour once mid-recipe and tried to substitute with cornstarch. Don't be me. Having a few flour types on hand means you can tackle basically any recipe that lands in the basket.

Week three I realized I only owned granulated sugar and the recipe called for brown sugar and powdered sugar. That was the week we made sad cookies. Never again.

Nothing kills the mood faster than pulling out a recipe and realizing your baking powder expired in 2021. Ask me how I know. These three sit in every basket rotation.

Forgot to soften butter once and tried microwaving it. Ended up with butter soup. Now I pull dairy items the night before and stage them like a cooking show contestant.

Plain baked goods are fine but the basket gets way more exciting when there's a bag of chocolate chips peeking out. My kid now digs through the basket looking for these first.

Had a spice rack full of things I bought once in 2019. Threw them all out and started fresh with just the ones that show up in baking recipes constantly.

Scribbling recipes on napkins worked for exactly two weeks before I lost three of them. Having actual cards in the basket made the whole thing feel like a real tradition instead of a chaotic impulse.

Borrowed my roommate's warped measuring cups for months before realizing my cookies were inconsistent because nothing was actually measured right. Proper tools fixed everything overnight.

Tried baking cookies on a warped dark pan once and half were burnt while half were raw. The pan matters more than I ever wanted to admit.

Week one we ate brownies straight from the pan with a spatula. Fine. But once I added some presentation supplies the whole thing felt like an event instead of just Tuesday.
