The whole point was hands-free — walk away and let the sensor do its job. These three finally stopped me from running around the house flipping tiny switches every single evening.

Nothing killed the magic faster than dead batteries on Christmas Eve. I went through four brands before finding ones that actually last the whole season without swapping batteries every five days.

My old brass holders left green oxidation marks on white-painted sills. Spent a Saturday sanding and repainting before I wised up and found holders that won't leave a trace.

Most LED candles ship with bulbs that glow bluish-white and look like a hospital hallway from outside. Swapping in warm bulbs made the biggest visual difference of anything on this list.

Bare windows with candles looked harsh and exposed. Adding the right sheer fabric behind them diffused the light into that soft halo you see in magazine photos — took me two tries to get the fabric weight right.

Half my windows have sills too narrow for any holder — I almost gave up on those windows entirely until I found suction mounts that actually grip through a full winter.

Sensor candles handle themselves, but my older electric plug-in candles needed a brain. These timers finally automated the ones I wasn't ready to replace yet.

Running eight electric candles meant cords everywhere and not enough outlets. These kept things tidy without turning my living room into a trip hazard obstacle course.

A lone candle in a bare window looked kind of sad. Adding a simple wreath or greenery behind it completed the look and made the whole house feel intentional instead of half-decorated.

Wobbly candles, dead remotes, candles that slide off sills during storms — these small fixes addressed every minor frustration that almost made me give up on the whole project.

Everything looked great from inside but from the sidewalk something was still off. These final details made the outside view match what I imagined when I started this whole project two years ago.
