I used to let gift cards sit in my wallet until they expired. Now I book the appointment the same day I buy the card — no excuses, no guilt, no waiting until February.

The hour before my appointment used to be me rushing around wrapping presents and showing up stressed. Now I have a little wind-down ritual that makes the whole thing actually work.

Nothing worse than spending money on a massage and then immediately tensing up checking your email in the parking lot. These keep the relaxation going past the lobby.

I used to put my jeans and bra back on after a massage like some kind of monster. Now I bring a change of clothes and float home like a cloud.

While I'm buying everyone else's stocking stuffers, I throw a few things in the cart for my own stocking. Nobody fills it otherwise, so here we are.

Everyone gives me candles for Christmas anyway so I started being specific about which ones I want. These actually smell like a real spa, not a Bath and Body Works explosion.

After my December massage I sleep better than any other night of the year. These products help me recreate that feeling the other thirty nights.

My massage therapist always says drink water after your session and I always forget. Now I prep everything the morning of so there's no excuse.

After my massage I don't want to cook. I don't want to order food. I want to lie on my couch and eat something warm and easy without standing up more than once.

December is for everyone else. The massage is for me. But these last few things help me survive the final stretch between my spa day and New Year's without completely unraveling.
